If
you are a professional Truck or Bus/Coach Driver you will now have to
undertake one days training per year under a New EU Driver CPC
Directive. This Directive came into effect from 10th September
2008 for Minibus, Bus and coach drivers, and comes into force on the
10th September 2009 for truck drivers.
This
course is to enhance driver knowledge and skill The objective is
to set and maintain high standards of road safety, health and safety
and driving among Professional Drivers (those who drive for a
living) It also focuses on reducing running costs, increasing the
efficiency and effectiveness of drivers as well as helping protect the
environment.
There are 6
training modules in total, each of 7 hours duration with material to
cover specific areas. These modules are:
Control of the Vehicle and Eco Driving Techniques
Minimising Risks and Managing Emergencies in the Transport Industry
Health and Safety for the Professional Driver
Role of the Professional Driver in the Transport Industry
The Professional Truck Driver
The Professional Bus Driver
